This mercy or surrenders can be messy, and generally at our field when we are playing with experienced players we don't use them unless you are pointblank then touch the players back etc. When we have new players we tend to use it then

u should be ok unless at that field if some 1 says mercy/surrender if that has sort of like area affect… where i go they have that… so then he could be the one who was right but depends where u go and how the surrender/mercy rule is
